Gold Line Technology Corridor |
|||||||||||||||
The Gold Line Technology Corridor program was an outgrowth of the Pasadena Technoplex. Beginning in 1995, cities to the east of Pasadena, throughout the San Gabriel Valley, began to want to participate in the technology growth of Pasadena. In parallel, a $600 million light rail program was in its final approval stage. Bill Lyte, with major real estate organization Cushman & Wakefield (Eric Larson and John Minervini), and the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership (SGVEP – Judy Angelo and Vance Baugham) , expanded the technology program to Claremont along the Gold Line right of way. This right of way included several major universities and research centers, including Citrus College, Azusa Pacific University, University of La Verne, City of Hope National Medical Center, Claremont Colleges and nearby CSU Pomona. The SGVEP established a “Technology Leadership Award” to showcase San Gabriel Valley-wide technology programs, and more than 3000 maps of the “Gold Line Technology Corridor” were distributed. Several San Gabriel Valley cities, particularly Monrovia, are now major technology centers and the home of many firms from Caltech. |
