Project Advocacy - Proposition 1B Funding

In November, 2006, California voters passed a series of bonds, including the $20 billion Proposition 1B.

Beginning a month before the election, with the bond facing failure, Bill Lyte, working through CALMITSAC, helped build support within the engineering industry and construction unions.

This involved considerable interface with the staff of top California legislators. This bond money has proven to be vital, because it is one of the only remaining State sources of funding for critical transportation infrastructure at a time of terrible State Budget deficits.
